6 Jul 2008. Foundation stone laying ceremony for a langgar hall and accomodation building will be held at the historical Gurdwara Sahibzada Ajit Singh ji, Anandpur Sahib, Ropar (near Taragarh Kila / Fort), Punjab, on 6 July 2008. This will be followed by the sewa of raising the Nishan Sahib.

Sahibzada Ajit Singh was born to Mata Sundari and Guru Gobind Singh ji at Paonta Sahib on 26 January, 1687. The following year, Guru Gobind Singh returned with the family to Anandpur where Ajit Singh was brought up in the approved Sikh style. He was taught religious texts, philosophy and history, and had training in riding, swordsmanship and archery, etc. He grew up into a handsome young man, strong intelligent and a natural leader of men.

On 29 August 1700, Sahibzada Ajit Singh ji was entrusted to defend Taragarh Fort against an attack by imperial Mughal troops from Lahore and Sirhind - which he successfully did.
